    GSA 8(a) STARS II

    RNB was awarded a prime contract, GS-06-F-0735Z, on the GSA 8(a) STARS II GWAC in August of 2011. The 8(a) STARS II GWAC is structured to promote small business utilization, specifically with 8(a) businesses, for information technology (IT) services or solutions for the Federal Government. RNB Technologies, Inc. was awarded a contract in Constellation I for functional areas One, Custom Computer Programming Services, and Two, Computer Systems Design Services.

    Functional Area 1 - 541511 — Custom Computer Programming Services

    These industry partners are primarily engaged in writing, modifying, testing, and supporting customized software.

    Functional Area 2 - 541512 — Computer Systems Design Services

    These industry partners are primarily engaged in planning and designing computer systems that integrate computer hardware, software, and communication technologies. The hardware and software components of the system may be provided by the industry partners as part of integrated services or may be provided by third parties. These industry partners often install the system and train and support system users.

    This GWAC provides many useful features and benefits, and is being promoted by the Department of Defense and other Federal Agencies (see memo from Richard Ginman, Director, Defense Procurement and Acquisition Policy below).

    Five year-base and one five year option term, provides a long duration POP that will support continuity of activities following initial award

    Low 0.75 percent contract access fee

    Same low contract access fee as normal GSA schedules that is built in to contractor rates

    Access to multiple types of task orders

    Offers fixed price, time and materials, labor hour, and blended task order types to provide a great deal of flexibility

     

    Government Assistance

    Prior to issuing orders under 8(a) STARS II, federal contracting officers are required to receive training on the use of the 8(a) STARS II contract and be granted a written delegation of procurement authority from the GSA Small Business GWAC Center. Training is offered at no cost via: a self-paced, online course; onsite training conferences and events; web or video conferences; and conference calls.
